The Simpsons season 24 episode 13, titled Hardly Kirk-ing, finds Homer and Marge discovering that their old neighbor, Kirk Van Houten, has become a successful fashion designer. Intrigued by Kirk's newfound success, Homer decides to try and emulate him by changing his behavior, clothing, and even his name to resemble Kirk's. All the while, Marge tries to encourage Homer to be himself and not simply copy someone else. However, Homer becomes increasingly obsessed with his new identity and begins to spend more time with Kirk, neglecting his own family in the process. Meanwhile, Bart and Milhouse use a metal detector to search for treasure in Springfield's abandoned gold mine, leading to unexpected consequences. The episode deals with themes of identity, envy, and the dangers of trying to be someone you're not. As always, The Simpsons delivers its trademark blend of humor and heart in this memorable episode.
