In The Simpsons season 21 episode 1, titled "Homer the Whopper," Homer Simpson becomes the target of Hollywood executives who want to turn his comic book character, Angry Dad, into a movie. As part of their effort to get Homer in shape, they hire a personal trainer named Lyle McCarthy, voiced by Seth Rogen.
Initially, Homer is resistant to working out and changing his lifestyle, but Lyle goes above and beyond to motivate him. With Lyle's help, Homer starts eating healthier and exercising regularly. However, when it becomes clear that the movie executives want a slimmer and more attractive lead actor, Homer becomes paranoid and obsessed with losing weight.
Meanwhile, Bart starts a comic book club at school, but none of his classmates show up. Feeling discouraged, Bart seeks inspiration from his father's comic book character, Angry Dad. He decides to write his own comic book featuring Angry Dad as the hero, and he enlists the help of Homer and Lyle to bring his vision to life.
As they work on the comic book, Homer becomes increasingly unhappy with his appearance and continues to push himself beyond his limits with Lyle's help. However, his extreme weight loss has unintended consequences, and it leads to a confrontation with the movie executives and a surprising turn of events for both Homer and Bart.
Throughout the episode, there are references and nods to the comic book industry, including cameo appearances from comic book legends Alan Moore and Art Spiegelman. There's also a subplot involving Marge and Lisa, who try to teach Maggie how to talk.
Overall, "Homer the Whopper" is a hilarious episode that pokes fun at Hollywood's obsession with appearance and the comic book industry. The chemistry between Seth Rogen's character and Homer is particularly noteworthy, and there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments throughout.
