In "Treehouse of Horror XVIII," the 18th installment of The Simpsons' annual Halloween-themed episode series, viewers are in for another round of spooky stories featuring the beloved Springfield clan.
The episode kicks off with a riff on the movie "E.T." in a segment called "E.T., Go Home." When Kang and Kodos, the show's famous green aliens, crash land on Earth, they find themselves in need of medical attention. They make their way to the Simpsons' house, where Maggie befriends them. But chaos ensues when the aliens' friends come looking for them. Hilarity ensues as the Simpsons try to escape the alien invaders.
Next up is "Mr. and Mrs. Simpson," a parody of the 2005 movie "Corpse Bride." Marge fears that Homer is not committed to their marriage, so she seeks the help of a shady gypsy. She discovers that Homer has unwittingly married her for eternity after putting a wedding ring on a corpse's finger during a drunken binge. The rest of the segment follows Marge as she tries to break the curse and get her husband back.
Finally, "Heck House" is a parody of the 1999 movie "The Blair Witch Project." In this segment, Bart and Milhouse are put through a religious haunted house display by Ned Flanders after playing a Halloween prank on him. However, the innocent punishment turns into a life-threatening situation when the boys become lost in the woods and encounter actual supernatural forces.
Overall, "Treehouse of Horror XVIII" is a classic Simpsons episode that will leave viewers laughing and creeped out in equal measure.
