Bart and Lisa are assigned to write a book report on The Neverending Story, but Bart hasn't even started reading the book. Instead, he feeds Lisa a fake summary of the book, which she presents to the class. However, things take a strange turn when Homer, having just won a large sum of money, decides to buy a magical talking scale that can grant wishes. When Bart accidentally drops the book into the scale, the story comes to life and Homer, who has been eavesdropping on the conversation, gets sucked into the book's world. Lisa and Bart follow, and they quickly realize they must find a way out before they are trapped in the story forever. Along the way, they encounter a number of characters from the book, including Falkor the Luck Dragon and the Childlike Empress. As they navigate through the plot, they also learn some important lessons about honesty and the dangers of taking shortcuts. Will they be able to escape the never-ending story?
