Bart uncovers old school detention records and learns that Principal Skinner was once a talented singer. Marge convinces Skinner to exercise his talents and take the lead in the upcoming Springfield Elementary School production of "Up with Elementary." However, Skinner has a recurrent stage fright that makes him too nervous to sing in front of the crowd, even though he takes a pair of pills that he credits with helping him feel relaxed and confident. Meanwhile, Homer joins a secret society that performs acts of random kindness around Springfield. He gets involved when the society decides to give the town a statue of Theodore Roosevelt as a gift, but Homer objects to the statue being placed in a small traffic island in the middle of a busy street. This episode features guest star Olympia Dukakis.
