In The Simpsons season 11 episode 15, titled "Missionary Impossible," the Simpson family attends church one Sunday and listens to a missionary speak about his work in the South Pacific. Homer falls asleep during the sermon but wakes up when the missionary offers free volunteer trips to the South Pacific. Homer signs up immediately and is chosen to participate, even though he has no idea what he's getting into.
On the day of the trip, Homer and several other volunteers arrive at the airport to board a plane, which turns out to be an old, decrepit aircraft. The group soon learns that they are on a mission to deliver medicine and supplies to a remote island, where a volcano is about to erupt. The missionary in charge of the group, Reverend Lovejoy's cousin, has an ulterior motive for the mission: he plans to convert the natives to Christianity.
Once on the island, Homer and the other volunteers are immediately met with hostility from the natives, who are suspicious of their intentions. The group splits up, and Homer is paired with Ned Flanders, who is the most enthusiastic member of the group about converting the natives. The two of them travel deeper into the island, but their efforts to convert the natives only make things worse. Eventually, they are captured by the natives and go through a series of tests to determine if they are trustworthy.
Meanwhile, back in Springfield, Marge is struggling to deal with Homer's absence and turns to Reverend Lovejoy for guidance. He recommends that Marge take on a project at the church to keep her busy. Marge agrees, and ends up sprucing up the church garden. However, when she discovers that Lovejoy's cousin is using the volunteer trip to convert the natives, she becomes outraged and sets out to confront him.
Overall, "Missionary Impossible" is a hilarious episode that takes a satirical look at the concept of missionary work and the clash between different cultures and beliefs. The episode is full of classic Simpsons humor, with plenty of jokes and sight gags that will have viewers laughing out loud. Additionally, the episode offers a thoughtful commentary on the idea of cultural imperialism and the dangers of trying to impose one's beliefs on another culture.
