Alone Again Natura-Diddily is the fourteenth episode of the eleventh season of the popular animated television show, The Simpsons. This episode follows the character Ned Flanders as he mourns the loss of his wife, Maude, who passed away in a freak accident involving a T-shirt cannon.
The episode begins with a flashback to Maude's funeral, where the Simpson family and the rest of the town gather to pay their respects. As Ned tries to come to terms with his loss, he is constantly bombarded with well-meaning but insensitive comments from his friends and neighbors. He tries to stay strong for his children, Rod and Todd, but it is clear that he is struggling to cope with his grief.
In an effort to lift his spirits, Homer and the rest of the guys take Ned out for a night on the town. At a bar, they meet a group of attractive women who take a liking to Ned and convince him to go skinny-dipping in a nearby stream. While the women are skinny-dipping, a beaver bites Ned, causing him to become infected with a rare disease.
Ned becomes increasingly ill, and it soon becomes clear that he needs a kidney transplant in order to survive. Homer is the only person in Springfield who is a match, so he volunteers to donate his kidney to Ned. The transplant is a success, but Ned begins to experience feelings of guilt for accepting the kidney from Homer, who he feels is not a morally upstanding person.
Meanwhile, the rest of the town is dealing with the aftermath of Maude's death. The Leftorium, the store that she owned, is struggling to stay afloat without her. Marge tries to help by throwing a Leftorium-themed party, but it only serves to highlight the town's indifference to Maude's passing.
As the episode draws to a close, Ned continues to feel guilty about the kidney transplant. He seeks advice from Reverend Lovejoy, who tells him that it is up to him to decide whether or not to forgive Homer. Ned ultimately decides to let go of his anger and embrace the kindness that Homer has shown him.
Alone Again Natura-Diddily is a poignant episode that deals with themes of grief, guilt, and forgiveness. The loss of Maude Flanders is a recurring theme throughout the eleventh season of The Simpsons, and this episode does an excellent job of exploring the impact of her death on the people of Springfield. Through Ned's journey, the episode shows the importance of being kind and compassionate in times of crisis.
