The Showbiz Show with David Spade debuted in September 2005 on the Comedy Central network. Created as a parody of entertainment news shows, the show was hosted by David Spade, comedian and actor. Known for his sarcastic and dry humor, Spade brought his signature style to the program, delivering topical jokes and commentary on the latest happenings in Hollywood.

The show had a format similar to that of other entertainment news programs, with segments like "In the News" and "The Hollywood Minute." However, rather than reporting on actual news, Spade and his team of writers created fake news stories and gossipy rumors about celebrities. With headlines like "John Travolta to Marry a Tree" and "Britney Spears Knits Seven Baby Booties," the show took a lighthearted approach to celebrity culture.

One of the most popular segments on The Showbiz Show was "Nightsweats," a recurring sketch in which Spade parodied Larry King's interviews by speaking with a celebrity while drenched in sweat. The sketch was often used to skewer the ridiculousness of celebrity interviews, with Spade asking absurd questions and introducing bizarre props. Guests on "Nightsweats" included actors like Adam Sandler and Amy Poehler, as well as musicians like Ozzy Osbourne and Trent Reznor.

Another popular segment was "Spade in America," in which Spade visited different cities and interviewed locals about their opinions on celebrity culture. He would often ask absurd questions to get a rise out of people, such as "If you had to have sex with one celebrity, who would it be?" The segment was a way of bringing the show's jokes out of the studio and into the real world.

While The Showbiz Show was primarily a comedy program, it did occasionally tackle more serious topics. For example, after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, the show did a segment on the various celebrities who had donated money to relief efforts. The segment was a rare moment of sincerity on the show, and Spade used it to encourage viewers to give back as well.

Despite its popularity, The Showbiz Show was not without its controversies. In 2006, Spade made a joke about then-President George W. Bush, which angered some viewers and led to calls for the show to be canceled. Spade later apologized for the joke, but the incident highlighted the risks of using humor to comment on current events.

Despite these challenges, The Showbiz Show continued to air until 2007, when it was cancelled due to low ratings. However, the show had made its mark on the entertainment industry, and Spade had cemented his status as a leading voice in comedy. The Showbiz Show may have been short-lived, but its legacy endures as an example of how to poke fun at the excesses of celebrity culture while still entertaining audiences.
