Ep 11. Special: Invasion of the Bane

In the special episode "Invasion of the Bane" of The Sarah Jane Adventures season 1, a young girl named Maria moves in next door to investigative journalist Sarah Jane Smith. On her first night in her new house, Maria is drawn to a new energy drink, Bubbleshock, that has just been released. She discovers that the drink is produced by an alien race, the Bane, who are using it to secretly control the minds of human beings.

Sarah Jane and her teenage sidekicks, Luke and Clyde, investigate the Bane and discover that they are planning a full-scale invasion of Earth. With the help of some of her scientific equipment, Sarah Jane is able to breach the Bane's protective field and infiltrate their headquarters. There, she discovers that the Bane Queen is working on a secret weapon that will release mind-controlling spores into the atmosphere, enabling them to enslave the entire human race.

As Sarah Jane tries to escape from the Bane headquarters, she is attacked by the Bane Queen's minions. Luke and Clyde come to her rescue, but in the chaos, one of the Bane is able to plant a mind-controlling spore in Sarah Jane's ear.

Back at her home, Sarah Jane begins to act strangely, and it soon becomes clear that she has been taken over by the Bane's mind-control. Luke and Clyde race against time to find a way to reverse the process and free Sarah Jane from the Bane's influence. They are able to use a gadget from Sarah Jane's lab to extract the spore from her ear, and Sarah Jane returns to her old self.

In the end, Sarah Jane and her friends are able to stop the Bane's invasion plan and save the world from enslavement. Maria decides to stay in the neighborhood and become part of Sarah Jane's team of teenage investigators, setting the stage for future adventures.
