Ep 2. Work Horses

The Saddle Club is an Australian children's television series that revolves around the lives of three girls named Lisa, Stevie, and Carole who share a love for horses. In season 1 episode 2, titled Work Horses, the girls are excited to start their new job at Pine Hollow Stables. Pine Hollow is owned by Mrs. Reg, a kind and experienced horse trainer who has taken the girls under her wing.

The girls' first task at the stables is to groom and exercise the workhorses, which are the horses that pull the wagons and carriages for the tourists who come to the stables. Lisa, Stevie, and Carole are excited to work with the horses, but they soon realize that grooming and exercising them is not an easy task. The workhorses are very strong and stubborn, and it takes a lot of effort to get them to cooperate.

Despite the challenges, the girls are determined to do a good job and impress Mrs. Reg. They work hard all day, scrubbing and brushing the horses, and taking them out for a ride. Lisa, who is usually afraid of horses, surprises herself by becoming more comfortable around them as she spends more time with them.

As the day progresses, the girls start to realize that the workhorses are not being treated very well. They are overworked and underfed, and some of them have injuries that have not been treated. Lisa, Stevie, and Carole are appalled by this and decide to take matters into their own hands.

They sneak back into the stables at night to check on the horses and are horrified to find that one of them, named Fred, is very sick. They try to call a vet, but they don't have enough money to pay for one. The girls decide to use their own pocket money to pay for the vet and to buy food for the workhorses.

Their kindness and compassion for the horses do not go unnoticed. Mrs. Reg is very impressed with the girls and tells them that they can keep their jobs at the stables as long as they want. She also promises to take better care of the workhorses from then on.

The episode ends with the girls feeling proud of themselves for making a difference in the lives of the workhorses. They all agree that working at Pine Hollow Stables is the best job they have ever had and that they can't wait to see what other adventures await them.
