Officer John Nolan, played by Nathan Fillion, is back on duty in the eleventh episode of The Rookie season 1 titled "Redwood." Nolan is part of the LAPD's 56th Division team working hard to maintain peace and law in Los Angeles. In this episode, he is deployed to Redwood, a quaint coastal town.

Meanwhile, Officer West, played by Titus Makin Jr., is on his own mission to join the exclusive Emergency Response Team (ERT). His journey takes him all the way to Redwood where he makes contact with a former ERT member, played by Rocco Nacino. While Officer West tries to convince the former ERT member to coach him for the team, he uncovers a plot that has the potential to endanger lives.

Throughout this episode, the audience is left on the edge of their seats as the tension builds up. The show effectively conveys the emotions and intensity of the moment as each character experiences a different kind of stress. Nolan struggles to keep himself under control as he feels that he is losing his grip on the situation. Meanwhile, Officer Bradford has to balance his loyalty to Nolan with the needs of the LAPD.
