Ep 8. Honest Abe

The Rifleman is an American Western television series that aired from 1958 to 1963. It tells the story of Lucas McCain, a widower and skilled marksman known as "The Rifleman," as he navigates life raising his son Mark and defending his town from outlaws and corrupt officials.

In season 4 episode 8, titled "Honest Abe," Lucas and Mark find themselves at the center of a conflict between rival cattle ranchers. Abe Curry, a well-respected cattleman, asks Lucas to help transport his herd to market in North Fork. Lucas agrees, but when they arrive they discover that another rancher, Sam Morley, has set up a blockade on the road to prevent Abe's cattle from passing through.

The situation quickly escalates as Morley and his men begin to harass and threaten Abe and his crew. Lucas tries to mediate the situation, but Morley refuses to budge and tensions continue to rise. Meanwhile, Mark befriends a young boy named Billy who lives on Morley's ranch, but soon discovers that the boy is caught in the middle of the conflict and is being used as a pawn by Morley to gain an advantage over Abe.

As the situation reaches a boiling point, Lucas and Abe come up with a plan to sneak the cattle through Morley's blockade using a different route. But when Morley catches wind of their plan, he and his men pursue them in a dangerous and deadly chase through the countryside. In the end, Lucas and Abe emerge victorious, but not without paying a heavy price.

As always with The Rifleman, "Honest Abe" showcases the show's signature blend of action, drama, and heart. It also features standout performances from series regulars Chuck Connors and Johnny Crawford, as well as guest stars Peter Whitney and Lee Van Cleef. With its thrilling storyline and memorable characters, "Honest Abe" is sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
