In season 5 episode 3 of The Repair Shop, the team of expert craftspeople continues their mission of restoring treasured and often sentimental items to their former glory. The episode features a diverse range of projects, each with its own unique challenges, requiring the expertise of the skilled artisans.

The first item to arrive at The Repair Shop is a vintage Radiogram, an all-in-one music system from the 1950s. It belonged to a woman who had inherited it from her grandparents. She had fond memories of them dancing together to its music and wanted it restored to working order as a tribute to them. The team eagerly takes on the challenge of repairing the intricate mechanisms of the music system while retaining its vintage aesthetic.

Next up is a beautiful and ornate gas light. It's been in the family of a man who brought it in for restoration since the Colonial times. The family's lived with it as it was for generations, but now it's in desperate need of repair. The team has to put their heads together and use their skills to refurbish the fixture to its former glory, with a few minor modifications for safety.

In the third project of the episode, The Repair Shop is tasked with restoring a crucifix that had recently been rescued from a former church that had been abandoned. It is uncertain how long this particular crucifix had been left in neglect. The piece is brought by a very devout couple; its religious significance is not lost on any of the artisans, who go to great lengths to restore it with utmost care and precision. The team has to work with techniques that allow them to respect the history of this significant religious piece.

The following project is an antique music box that has been passed down for generations in a family. It had not been opened in years and had suffered the ravages of time. The family had grown up with the glamorous mechanisms of the music box, but it had stopped playing when it was handed down to their grandmother. With a keen eye for detail and skilled craftsmanship, the artisans delicately restore the delicate mechanisms and breathes new life into the music box.

Finally, in the last project of the episode, the team is given a vintage ship's wheel by a gentleman who intends to give it to his grandson as an heirloom. The wheel was at one time fitted on a steamship and had been lying in storage ever since being removed in the 1980s. Despite its age, the artisans have to use their expertise to ensure that the wheel maintains its authenticity, while also restoring it to a fully useable state for its new owner.

Overall, The Repair Shop season 5 episode 3 is an excellent example of the skill and care that these expert artisans bring to every project they undertake. They are dedicated professionals who breathe new life into treasured items, often giving people many more years of enjoyment with heritage pieces.
