Ep 7. Clem Kadiddlehopper's Graduation

Clem Kadiddlehopper, the beloved character played by Red Skelton, is graduating in this episode of The Red Skelton Show. The small-town bumpkin with a heart of gold is excited to receive his diploma, but he's also a little apprehensive about what the future might hold. As a tribute to Clem's big day, Red spends the entire episode trying to make his friend's graduation an unforgettable experience.

The episode begins with Clem receiving his diploma from the school principal. Clem is ecstatic, but his celebration is cut short when he begins to worry about what comes next. Red notices Clem's nerves and tries to reassure him. He tells stories of his own graduation and all of the exciting things that happened to him after school. Red also reminds Clem that he has a lot of talents that will serve him well in several different fields.

However, despite Red's words of encouragement, Clem can't shake his doubts. He confides in Red that he's scared he won't be able to make anything of himself. Red tries to reassure him once again, but this time he decides to take a different approach. He tells Clem that he has a surprise for him, and he takes him out to the street to meet some of the town's most successful and respected citizens.

As they walk, Red introduces Clem to different people and shares a little bit of information about each of them. There's the town doctor, who's been practicing medicine for over 30 years; the mayor, who's responsible for several of the town's most successful initiatives; and the newspaper editor, who's won numerous awards for his writing. Each person tells Clem a little bit about their career and how they got to where they are today.

To Clem's surprise, most of the people he meets don't have any formal education beyond high school. They all started out working hard and taking advantage of any opportunities that came their way. Red points out to Clem that there are plenty of successful people in the world who didn't go to college, but still found great careers.

Feeling uplifted by the encouragement, Clem is finally ready to celebrate his graduation. Red takes him to a diner where they order ice cream and pie. The diner is owned by one of Clem's classmates, who offers to let Clem and Red work a shift there to celebrate. The trio have a blast serving customers and playing practical jokes on each other.

As the day comes to a close, Clem is excited about the future once again. He's less worried about what he doesn't know and more focused on the things he does know. Red tells him that life is full of surprises, and that sometimes the biggest successes come out of the hardest struggles.

The episode concludes with Clem heading home, where his family has decorated the house with streamers and balloons. As they celebrate, Clem gets a feeling of happiness and contentment. He knows that he has a lot to learn, but he's no longer worried about what the future might hold. For Clem Kadiddlehopper, graduation day was the perfect reminder of all the wonderful things that life has to offer.
