The Real Ghostbusters is an animated TV show created by the legendary animation studio, DiC Entertainment. The show follows the adventures of a group of four ghost hunters -- Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore -- as they rid New York City of supernatural threats.
In season 2 episode 12, titled "Who Are You Calling Two Dimensional," the Ghostbusters find themselves in a strange new world: a world of two-dimensional beings. The episode begins with the Ghostbusters investigating a strange energy disturbance in Central Park. As they follow the disturbance, they suddenly find themselves transported to a flat, two-dimensional world.
The Ghostbusters are initially confused and disoriented in this new world, but they soon realize that they are not alone. They are confronted by a group of two-dimensional beings who are not happy about their arrival. The beings accuse the Ghostbusters of being "outsiders" and demand that they leave their world.
Despite the beings' hostility, the Ghostbusters are determined to find out what brought them to this strange place. They begin to explore the world and soon discover that it is inhabited by all sorts of strange creatures, including living, two-dimensional shadows. The shadows are initially friendly, but they soon turn hostile when they realize that the Ghostbusters are disrupting their way of life.
As the Ghostbusters continue to explore the two-dimensional world, they begin to suspect that they were brought there by a powerful interdimensional being known as the Collector. The Collector is said to travel between worlds, collecting objects and creatures from each one. The Ghostbusters realize that they must find the Collector and convince him to send them back to their own world.
Along the way, the Ghostbusters encounter all sorts of dangers and obstacles, including giant paper cranes and deadly two-dimensional samurai. They also meet a friendly two-dimensional creature named Flatman, who agrees to help them in their quest.
Ultimately, the Ghostbusters are able to track down the Collector and confront him in his lair. They quickly realize that the Collector is not interested in sending them back to their own world, but rather wants to add them to his collection. The Ghostbusters are forced to fight their way out of the Collector's lair, battling his minions and his powerful two-dimensional magic.
In the end, the Ghostbusters are able to outsmart the Collector and escape his grasp. They return to their own world, relieved to be back in three dimensions. The episode ends with the Ghostbusters back in their headquarters, reflecting on their strange adventure and laughing about how they will never forget their trip to the two-dimensional world.
