The Rain is a captivating post-apocalyptic thriller set in Denmark, which follows the story of two siblings, Simone and Rasmus, as they try to survive in a world where a deadly virus carried by rainfall has killed almost all of the population. The story begins when a Danish family is forced to take shelter in a fallout bunker when a mysterious virus carried by rainfall starts killing people across the world. The father of the family, a scientist, leaves to find a cure, leaving his wife and two children behind. Six years later, Simone and Rasmus emerge from the bunker to find out that the world as they knew it has ceased to exist, and they must quickly learn to navigate a new and dangerous reality.

Simone, played by Alba August, is a strong and independent young woman who has taken on the role of protector to her younger brother, Rasmus, after their father's disappearance.
