In The PJs season 1 episode 8, titled "He's Gotta Have It," the residents of the Hilton Jacaranda Apartments are preparing to attend a Halloween costume party. Thurgood Stubbs, the building superintendent, is determined to win the costume contest and sets out to create the perfect Frankenstein's monster outfit.
However, Thurgood's plan is complicated when he learns that his best friend and neighbor, Muriel Stubbs, has invited her handsome new coworker, Keith, to the party. As soon as Thurgood meets Keith, he becomes jealous of his good looks and charming personality. Thurgood's insecurity is further fueled when he sees that Muriel seems to be smitten with Keith.
Desperate to outdo Keith and win Muriel's affection, Thurgood takes drastic measures. He enlists the help of his friend and fellow resident of the Hilton Jacaranda, Mr. Hudson, to create a new and improved costume that will make him the star of the party. Thurgood's costume, however, turns out to be a bit too convincing, leading to some harrowing adventures.
Meanwhile, as Thurgood becomes more focused on his competition with Keith, Muriel begins to feel neglected and frustrated with her husband's behavior. She tries to remind Thurgood of what really matters, but Thurgood is so consumed by his jealousy that he can't seem to see past his own insecurities.
As the night unfolds, Thurgood's antics become more and more extreme, leading him into some hilarious and precarious situations. And as he struggles to win the costume contest and Muriel's heart, Thurgood learns some valuable lessons about jealousy and self-confidence.
