Ep 2. It's About Time

The Penguins of Madagascar follows a team of four penguins living in the Central Park Zoo in New York City: Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private. The show centers around their various missions and adventures as they try to keep the zoo and its animal inhabitants safe.

In season 2 episode 2, "It's About Time," the penguins stumble upon a time machine in the zoo's basement. Despite their initial reluctance to mess with time travel, Skipper decides to use the time machine to go back in time and prevent a past mission from going wrong.

The episode begins with the penguins in the middle of a mission to retrieve a stolen diamond from Dr. Blowhole, their arch-nemesis and a dolphin with a grudge against them. In the process, they accidentally set off one of Blowhole's machines, which sends Kowalski hurtling back in time.

Back in the present, the remaining penguins discover the time machine and debate whether or not to use it. Skipper is hesitant, citing the dangers of messing with time travel, but ultimately decides to take the risk and go back to the past to prevent Kowalski's disappearance.

The episode then jumps back in time to the moment when Kowalski first disappears. This time, however, Skipper is able to intervene and prevent the accident that caused Kowalski to time travel.

With the mission a success and Kowalski back in the present, the penguins return to the time machine to go back to their own time. However, they accidentally jump too far forward and end up in a dystopian future where they must battle a tyrannical version of themselves to set things right.

Throughout the episode, the penguins find themselves grappling with the implications of time travel and the unforeseeable consequences that can arise from messing with the space-time continuum. Despite their initial reluctance to use the time machine, they ultimately come to the realization that sometimes taking risks is necessary in order to achieve their goals.

As with most episodes of The Penguins of Madagascar, "It's About Time" is full of humor, action, and heart. It's a great reminder of why this show was so beloved by kids and adults alike, and a testament to the enduring popularity of these iconic animated characters.
