Ep 4. Each Dawn I Diet

  • October 6, 1972

The Partridge Family season 3 episode 4, titled "Each Dawn I Diet," opens with the family sitting around the breakfast table discussing various diets and exercise routines. Keith is teasing Laurie for trying out a fad diet, but she insists that it's working for her. Meanwhile, Danny is eyeing a big stack of pancakes and trying to resist temptation.

The family has a concert that night, but when they arrive at the venue, they find out that the opening act has cancelled. The promoter begs them to add an hour to their set, but they don't have enough material. In a panic, they search for inspiration and come up with the idea of writing a song about dieting.

Laurie is the obvious choice to sing lead on the song, but she's so focused on her diet that she can't concentrate on the lyrics. Meanwhile, Danny is eating junk food in secret and feeling guilty about it. The rest of the family tries to help Laurie and Danny with their respective problems, but it seems like nothing is working.

As the day goes on, tensions rise and the family starts to fall apart. Rehearsals are botched, tempers flare, and it seems like they might not be able to pull off the show. Just when things seem their bleakest, however, they come together and write a song that speaks to everyone's struggles with dieting and body image.

The concert is a huge success, and the family is elated. They learn that even when things seem impossible, they can always rely on each other to come through. In the end, Laurie resolves to have a more balanced approach to her diet, and Danny learns to forgive himself for indulging in junk food.

"Each Dawn I Diet" is a heartfelt and funny episode of The Partridge Family that explores themes of body image, self-discipline, and the importance of family. As always, the music is top-notch, and the performances are exceptional. Fans of the show will love this episode, and newcomers will find it an excellent introduction to the world of the Partridges.
