The news throws a wrench in their plans as they have a big gig coming up and they can't afford to cancel. However, the doctor insists that Laurie needs surgery immediately and won't be able to sing for a week. The family is worried about Laurie's recovery and also about how to fill her spot on stage.
Enter Reuben, the family's manager, who suggests that they bring in their cousin Billy as a replacement for the time being. While the family is hesitant at first, they realize that they don't have many other options and agree to let Billy join them.

When it's time for the big gig, the family is nervous but excited to have Billy on stage with them. However, just before they're about to perform, Laurie arrives at the venue, having convinced the doctor to let her come. She's not 100% but still insists on joining them for the show.
