Ep 16. Fellini, Bergman and Partridge
- January 14, 1972
In The Partridge Family season 2 episode 16 titled "Fellini, Bergman and Partridge," the family is invited to perform in a film festival in Cannes, France. While on their way to the festival, they take a detour to visit a famous Italian director named Fellini.
Once at his villa, they find out that Fellini is not there but his protégé, Bergman is. Bergman is a young and uptight director who is working on his first film and is under a lot of stress. The Partridge Family offers to help him relax by showing him a good time.
While Bergman is hesitant at first, he eventually agrees. The family takes him on a tour of Rome and shows him the sights. They take him to a fancy restaurant where he tries new foods, and they even get him a date with a beautiful Italian girl.
As they spend more time with Bergman, they notice that he loosens up and becomes more comfortable around them. He even starts to joke and laugh with them, something he had not done before.
Eventually, they make it to Cannes for the film festival where they are greeted with loud cheers and applause. They are set to perform two songs, one of which is an original song written by Laurie.
Before they go on stage, however, Bergman tells them that he has found inspiration from their family and wants to make a new film that depicts the fun and love they have for each other. He asks if they would be willing to be in the movie, to which they all agree.
The Partridge Family takes the stage and performs their songs to an adoring crowd. They leave knowing that they made a lasting impression on a talented young director and inspired him to create something beautiful.
As the episode ends, we see the family walking on the beach in Cannes, looking out at the ocean and wondering what adventures lie ahead for them.
