- December 31, 1971
The Partridge Family season 2 episode 14, "Where Do Mermaids Go?", follows the beloved musical family as they embark on a beach vacation. Upon their arrival, they discover that the beach has been closed due to an oil spill, causing the family to relocate to a new seaside spot. While there, Danny, the youngest member of the Partridge clan, becomes convinced that there are mermaids in the nearby waters. Despite his family's skepticism, Danny is determined to find proof of their existence.
Meanwhile, Keith, the oldest Partridge sibling, is struggling with writer's block and feels uninspired to write new songs for the family's upcoming album. While on the beach, Keith meets a mysterious woman named Laurie who inspires him and reignites his passion for songwriting. However, as Keith begins to spend more time with Laurie, he becomes distant from the rest of his family.
As the family enjoys their time at the beach, they are engulfed in a series of comedic misadventures, including a fishing excursion gone awry and a disastrous turtle release. Through it all, Danny remains fixated on discovering the truth about mermaids and ultimately gets himself into a dangerous situation while diving into the ocean alone.
