Ep 31. The Cookiecutter Sharks
- December 13, 2010
The Octonauts are back with a new adventure in season 1, episode 31 titled "The Cookiecutter Sharks." In this episode, the Octonauts discover a group of Cookiecutter Sharks who are causing trouble in the ocean.
As the title suggests, the Cookiecutter Sharks have a unique way of feeding. They use their sharp teeth to create cookie-shaped bites on the skin of larger sea creatures, like whales and dolphins. These bites may not be fatal, but they can weaken the larger animals, making them vulnerable to other predators.
The Octonauts spring into action to learn more about these sharks and figure out how to stop their predation. Captain Barnacles, Kwazii, and Shellington head out in the Gup-D, a deep sea exploration vehicle, to find and study the Cookiecutter Sharks up close.
Meanwhile, back at the Octopod, the rest of the team is working on creating a special gadget to prevent the Cookiecutter Sharks from attacking other sea creatures. The gadget includes a light and sound display that mimics the pattern of a larger predator, scaring the sharks away.
As the Octonauts continue their research, they realize that the Cookiecutter Sharks are not attacking sea creatures just for food but also because they are attracted to the lights and movement of larger animals. This newfound information helps the team to create a more effective gadget that will help deter the Cookiecutter Sharks from attacking.
With their new gadget in hand, the Octonauts head back out to the ocean to test it. They find a group of Cookiecutter Sharks attacking a pod of whales, and the team quickly springs into action. The gadget works! The Cookiecutter Sharks are scared away, and the whales are safe.
With their mission complete, the Octonauts celebrate their successful mission. They also realize that even the tiniest creatures in the ocean have an important role to play, and they must be protected.
In "The Cookiecutter Sharks," the Octonauts once again demonstrate their commitment to exploring and protecting the world's oceans. Through teamwork and ingenuity, they are able to overcome obstacles and make a difference in the lives of the creatures they encounter. Fans of the show will love this exciting and educational new episode.
