The Octonauts Season 1 Episode 24: The Kelp Forest Rescue
The Kelp Forest Rescue episode of the Octonauts follows Captain Barnacles, Kwazii, and Peso on a mission to save the Kelp Forest from destruction. Kelp Forests are an important habitat for many marine creatures and this one is home to a variety of creatures, including sea otters.
Captain Barnacles is concerned when he receives news that the Kelp Forest is in danger. He discovers that it is being destroyed by sea urchins that are eating the Kelp. As a result, the Kelp Forest is shrinking and the creatures that live there are losing their homes.
Captain Barnacles, Kwazii, and Peso launch a mission to save the Kelp Forest. They team up with Tweak, who has designed a new contraption that will help them remove the sea urchins. The Octonauts set off in the GUP-S, which is equipped with a saw to cut away the urchin-covered Kelp.
As they arrive in the Kelp Forest, they notice that it has become even smaller than they expected. They immediately get to work with their new invention, but the sea urchins prove to be more difficult to remove than they anticipated. While they are working, they come across a sea otter that has lost its home and is stranded on a piece of floating Kelp.
The Octonauts immediately help the sea otter and discover that many of the other creatures in the Kelp Forest have also lost their homes. They decide to take the sea otter back to the Octopod to care for it while they continue to work on their mission.
Once they return to the Kelp Forest, they notice that the sea urchins are much smaller than they were before. They realize that these are baby sea urchins and the real culprits behind the destruction of the Kelp Forest are still out there. They soon discover that the source of the problem is an army of extremely hungry sea urchins, who are migrating from another part of the ocean and were attracted to the Kelp Forest's abundance of food.
The Octonauts come up with a plan to lure the sea urchins away using a decoy made out of Kelp, which will give them time to remove the baby urchins from the Kelp. The plan works and the Octonauts are able to remove all the baby urchins from the Kelp. The sea otter they rescued earlier is released back into its natural habitat and the Kelp Forest is saved.
