The Nanny season 3 episode 6 titled "Shopaholic" revolves around Fran Fine, who is excited to accompany her friend Val to a sample sale. Though Fran is not much of a shopper, she cannot resist the temptation of the sale and ends up buying a lot of stuff that she neither needs nor can afford. However, she realizes the gravity of her situation when she sees her credit card bills piling up.
Meanwhile, Maxwell is concerned about the excessive spending habits of his employees, especially his business partner, who has been using the company's credit card for personal expenses. He seeks Fran's help to investigate the matter. Fran agrees since she has a personal connection to the problem.
At the sale, Fran and Val bump into their old high school friend, Jill, who is now a successful businesswoman. Fran feels insecure about her own life and tries to paint a rosy picture of her job to impress Jill. However, Jill reveals that she is in dire need of a nanny for her children. Fran seizes the opportunity and agrees to work for her as a part-time nanny.
As Fran tries to keep up with her extravagant lifestyle, she finds it challenging to manage two jobs and her shopping addiction. She soon realizes that her spending habits are getting out of control when her credit card gets declined at a store. She confides in Niles, the butler, who advises her to seek professional help before things get worse.
Meanwhile, Maxwell confronts his business partner and gives him an ultimatum to pay back the money he owes the company or face the consequences. His partner agrees but warns Maxwell that he is not the only one with a spending problem in the company.
Fran, on the other hand, seeks help from a financial advisor who suggests she attend Shopaholics Anonymous meetings. At the meetings, Fran meets other people struggling with the same addiction and learns valuable lessons about managing her finances.
In the end, Fran manages to overcome her addiction and pay off her credit card bills. She also impresses Jill with her nanny skills and lands a job offer to work for her full-time. Maxwell, pleased with Fran's help, praises her for her resourcefulness and problem-solving skills. The episode ends with Fran feeling proud of herself for overcoming her addiction and finding a new job opportunity.
