That's Midlife is the 23rd episode of season 3 of the hit television series, The Nanny. After Fran's best friend Sharon throws a lavish midlife crisis party, Fran begins to feel insecure about her own age. Meanwhile, Sylvia and Morty are fighting about her desire to have plastic surgery.
As the episode begins, Fran is helping Sharon plan her "Mid-life is a Gas" party complete with a magician, a ventriloquist, and a psychic. But when Fran starts to realize that she's getting older and doesn't have a partner, she starts to worry about her own future.
At the party, Fran meets Mr. Sheffield's single friend, Dr. Jack Miller, and they hit it off. But Fran's insecurities about her age and the fact that she's divorced start to get in the way of their connection. Meanwhile, Niles takes advantage of the psychic to try to win a bet against C.C. about who will be the first to get married.
During the party, Sylvia shows up with a black eye, claiming that she fell down the stairs. But it soon becomes clear that she's lying and that Morty hit her in a fight about her desire to have plastic surgery. Fran tries to convince Sylvia that she doesn't need surgery to feel good about herself, but Sylvia is convinced that it's the only way to feel young and beautiful again.
Throughout the episode, Fran struggles with her own insecurities about aging and her fear of ending up alone. But with the help of Dr. Miller and some wise words from her grandmother, Fran realizes that she doesn't need a man to make her feel young and vibrant. In the end, she attends Sharon's party alone and has a great time, knowing that her age is just a number.
Meanwhile, Sylvia and Morty eventually reconcile, with Sylvia promising not to get plastic surgery and Morty promising to love her just the way she is.
Overall, That's Midlife is an episode about coming to terms with aging and learning to love yourself no matter what your age or situation in life. With its humor, heart, and relatable characters, The Nanny continues to be a beloved classic television series.
