The Nanny season 2 episode 13, titled "The Strike," centers around Brighton's baseball team going on strike and canceling their game against their rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals. Fran, being a die-hard fan of the team, is devastated by the news and decides to take matters into her own hands to rectify the situation.
Initially, Fran tries to convince the kids on the team to reconsider their decision by offering them incentives such as ice cream, but her efforts prove to be futile as the kids are insistent on striking. In the meantime, Mr. Sheffield is busy preparing for a charity event and is delighted to have the opportunity to invite a famous movie star, Raymond Choyce, to be the keynote speaker.
Despite this, Fran is determined to make sure that the game goes ahead as planned. She enlists the help of her mother, Sylvia, and the two of them end up picketing on the steps of Brighton's school, much to the amusement of the passersby. Eventually, this tactic works, and the kids are convinced to end their strike, allowing the game to proceed.
Meanwhile, back at the Sheffield mansion, Mr. Sheffield is struggling to cope with Raymond Choyce's diva behavior, which includes demands for specific foods and a private dressing room. C.C. is also struggling with the demands of the event and feels threatened by the presence of Raymond Choyce, who she believes may steal the spotlight from her.
As the day of the charity event draws near, Fran is worried that the game may not go as planned. However, her persistence pays off, and the game turns out to be a great success, with Brighton eventually winning against their rivals. As a result, Fran is hailed as a hero, and Mr. Sheffield is impressed with her efforts.
"The Strike" is a heartwarming episode with a strong message about the importance of standing up for what you believe in. Fran's character shines through in this episode, and her determination and persistence are both admirable and inspiring.
