In this episode of The Mysterious Cities of Gold, titled "The Forest of Statues," Esteban and Tao reach the city of the High Priests, where they hope to uncover the secrets of the cities of gold. However, they soon discover that the city is surrounded by a forest full of statues that seem to come to life at night.
As the two boys explore the city, they learn that the High Priests have forbidden the use of gold, and instead use a magical substance called "the sunstone" to power their society. They also discover that the High Priests have been searching for the cities of gold for centuries, hoping to use their power to increase their own wealth and influence.
Meanwhile, the rest of the crew, led by Captain Gomez, is searching for a way to rescue Esteban and Tao from the clutches of the High Priests. They soon encounter a tribe of friendly Indians who help them navigate the treacherous forest and reach the city.
Despite the danger, Esteban and Tao are determined to uncover the secrets of the High Priests and find out what they know about the cities of gold. They infiltrate the High Priest's temple and discover a map that shows the locations of the seven cities of gold.
However, their mission is soon compromised when they are captured by the High Priests and sentenced to be sacrificed to their sun god. The rest of the crew arrives just in time to save them, and they make a daring escape through the forest, dodging the pursuing statues and making their way back to the Golden Condor.
