Four musicians, Micky, Davy, Peter, and Mike, form a band and suddenly find themselves catapulted to fame in the music industry. In this episode, the four Monkees come into contact with a pair of bumbling kidnapers named George and Lenny. The pair had initially intended to kidnap a wealthy businessman but, instead, ended up taking the Monkees captive.
The Monkees initially think that the whole abduction scenario is a practical joke being played on them. However, after realizing that their predicament is all too real, the group decides to try and escape their captors. Their attempts at escaping are met with little success, and the boys soon find themselves held captive in a dingy old warehouse.
Meanwhile, the missing businessman's family discovers that their loved one has been taken captive, and they alert the police. Detectives on the case eventually discover George and Lenny's hideout and launch a raid on the warehouse. Chaos ensues as the police enter the building, and the Monkees see their chance to escape.
In the end, the Monkees are freed, and the kidnappers are apprehended. However, the boys soon realize that the experience of being kidnapped has given them a unique opportunity to write a hit song. The episode concludes with the band debuting their new song on stage, much to the delight of their screaming fans.
