The Monkees season 1 episode 3, titled Monkee vs. Machine, follows the four members of the band as they try to make a name for themselves in the music industry. In this episode, the Monkees come up with an idea to create a new song that can potentially become a hit. However, they face some challenges along the way, including a clash with their landlord, Mr. Babbitt, who complains about the noise coming from their apartment.

As the Monkees work on their new song, they realize they need some help with the lyrics. They come up with the idea to use a computer program to generate some ideas for them. The computer, named S.I.M.O.N., is a cumbersome machine that takes up most of the living room space in their apartment. However, the Monkees don't mind as they are excited to try out this new tool.

The trouble begins when S.I.M.O.N. starts to take over the creative process. The Monkees begin to rely on the machine for every aspect of their song, from the melody to the lyrics. They even start to dress up in matching jumpsuits, like robots, to match the theme of the song. The band's manager, Reuben, sees what is happening and warns them to stop relying on the machine.

Meanwhile, Mr. Babbitt is still complaining about the noise, and the Monkees try to placate him by inviting him to see their "concert." Mr. Babbitt is shocked when he sees the Monkees dressed up like robots and playing music with the help of a giant computer. He orders them to get rid of the machine and threatens to evict them if they don't comply.

The Monkees realize that they need to regain control of their creative process and come up with a new song on their own. They demolish S.I.M.O.N. with sledgehammers and get to work on their new song. In the end, they put on a successful concert that even impresses Mr. Babbitt.

Monkee vs. Machine is a fun and quirky episode that highlights the Monkees' struggle to make it in the music industry. It also pokes fun at the rise of technology and computers in the 1960s. Overall, this episode is a great example of the Monkees' trademark humor and style.
