In The Mighty Boosh season 1 episode 3, titled "Bollo," the story follows the journey of Howard and Vince as they decide to play a prank on Naboo, the shaman who runs the infamous 'Nabootique.' They come up with the idea of pretending to be experts in music in order to con Naboo into paying them large amounts of money for their advice on his latest musical venture. Unfortunately for them, their plan does not go as smoothly as they had hoped.
The episode begins with Vince and Howard sitting on the couch, watching TV and eating noodles. They are interrupted by Naboo, who has a musical idea that he wants to pitch to them. This is when they hatch their plan to trick Naboo into giving them money by pretending to be music experts. The two doofus friends dress up as members of a made-up band called 'Vince Noir's Electric Hooves.'
Things get chaotic after they mistakenly consume some of Naboo's shaman juice, which leads to a psychedelic trip and some intense hallucinations. Throughout the episode, there are various colorful and quirky characters like Bollo, Naboo's gorilla friend, who plays a significant role in the events that follow.
Meanwhile, back at the Nabootique, Bob Fossil, the manager wants to rob Naboo and his store. He has a sidekick named Jones who is a disturbingly creepy and unsettling character. The duo manages to capture Naboo and put him in a cage, but not without a hilarious chase sequence with Bollo at the end.
Ultimately, Howard and Vince's attempt at scamming Naboo goes awry as they realize they can't con a shaman. Naboo catches onto their scheme and teaches them a valuable lesson about honesty and authenticity. In the end, Howard and Vince abandon their fake personas and apologize for their actions, which Naboo graciously accepts.
Overall, "Bollo" is a comical episode filled with absurdity and zany twists, which is characteristic of the off-beat humor of The Mighty Boosh. It also features a great soundtrack and some standout performances from Bollo and Jones, who play some of the most memorable characters in the series.
