In season 7 episode 19 of "The Middle" titled "Crushed," the Heck family must deal with a variety of predicaments. The episode opens with Axl coming home from college for a weekend visit, and it is immediately clear that he is hiding something from his parents. Meanwhile, Frankie is freaking out after she discovers that she accidentally ran over Mr. Ehlert's mailbox and fears that he will never forgive her.
As for Sue, she is finally getting close to her longtime crush, Sean Donahue, and is excited to go on a date with him. However, things take a turn for the worse when she realizes that she doesn't actually have a date with Sean - he thought she simply wanted to hang out as friends. Throughout the episode, Sue is left feeling embarrassed and heartbroken while trying to navigate her feelings for Sean.
At the same time, Brick is dealing with a crush of his own. As the school's Spring Fling dance approaches, he becomes enamored with his quirky new tutor, Dr. Fulton. It seems as though Brick's obsession with Dr. Fulton might be affecting his grades, and Frankie tries to intervene before things spiral out of control.
Throughout the episode, the Heck family is forced to face some uncomfortable truths. Axl is forced to confront his parents about his future (or lack thereof), while Frankie and Mike must face the consequences of their actions. Meanwhile, Sue and Brick both learn valuable lessons about love and self-worth.
As with most episodes of "The Middle," "Crushed" is filled with humor, heart, and relatable moments. Fans of the show will enjoy watching the Heck family navigate their various challenges and come out on the other side stronger than ever.
