It's Halloween time in Orson and the Hecks are once again getting into the spirit of the holiday. This time, however, the episode takes on a darker tone as Axl, Sue, and Brick share their own personal ghost stories with one another.
The episode starts off with each of the Heck siblings recounting their own supernatural experiences. Axl tells a story about a mysterious figure that haunts his old summer job, Sue shares a creepy occurrence that happened in her dorm room, and Brick reveals his fascination with a ghost who allegedly lives in their town's library.
As the evening goes on, the power goes out and the Hecks find themselves in total darkness. They begin to hear strange noises and become convinced that they are not alone in the house. Soon, they realize that someone is playing a prank on them and the family pulls together to figure out who the culprit is.
This episode includes plenty of laughs and classic Heck family moments. Axl's story about his haunted workplace is particularly amusing, as he reveals that he was more annoyed than scared by the ghost. Meanwhile, Sue's story takes on a more serious tone as she recounts an unsettling experience that she had in her dorm room. Brick's fascination with the library ghost is also fitting for his bookish character.
The Halloween pranks in the episode perfectly capture the quirkiness of the Heck family. They involve plenty of fake spiders, cobwebs, and even a "zombie" attack. These pranks add a sense of lightheartedness to the episode and help to offset the spookier elements of the ghost stories.
Overall, Halloween IV: The Ghost Story is an entertaining episode that showcases each of the Heck siblings' unique personalities. It's a fun watch for fans of The Middle and Halloween enthusiasts alike.
