Sue Ann Nivens, the Happy Homemaker, is fired from her television job as a producer. After she gets fired, Sue Ann decides to stay with Mary temporarily. She spends her time helping Mary around the house and putting on a facade of happiness. Of course, Mary is suspicious of Sue Ann's behavior - she's too cheerful, too helpful, too perfect. Meanwhile, the rest of the WJM newsroom is struggling to find suitable replacements for Sue Ann. They've got big shoes to fill and no one seems to be quite up to the task. One potential candidate, a former Miss South Dakota, is put through rigorous testing by the WJM team. But when Sue Ann hears of the potential replacement, she becomes irrationally jealous and hatches a plot to sabotage her. This leads to tension between Sue Ann and Mary, who tries to intervene in the situation. Ultimately, Sue Ann's true motivations and feelings come to light, and she realizes she needs to move on from her past job and embrace new opportunities.
