Mary Richards is a smart and independent woman who works as a producer of a local news program in Minneapolis. In season 4 episode 9 of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, titled Love Blooms at Hemples, Mary is given the impossible task of finding a replacement for the show's regular commentator, who is out of town.
