A tale of love, war and magic unfolds as Jack Woods, a businessman, comes to Ireland, ostensibly for some rest and relaxation. On his first day, Jack has a run in with local beauty Kathleen, who catches him watching as she skinny-dips in a nearby pool. That night he imagines seeing a Leprechaun! The next day, he skeptically follows what he believes to be an apparition only to find Muldoon drowning in a small pool of water, the only thing that can kill the tiny people. He saves Muldoon, who tells his mortal friend he is in his debt "forever and a day." We soon find out that the Leprechauns primary task in Ireland is changing the seasons; secondarily they create mischief. Their archenemy is the Trooping Fairies, who make too much nature, too many tiny leaves, and too much work for those who change the seasons. Fighting, however, is not an option - the Grand Banshee has forbidden it. Despite warnings, Muldoon's son, Mickey, and his pals crash the Fairies' Grand Midsummer Ball. While there, Mickey falls in love with the beautiful Princess Jessica, the only child of King Boric and Queen Morag, leaders of the Fairies - the sworn enemy. At a local pub, Barney, a Leprechaun friend of Mickey's, fights with Count Grogin, nephew to the Fairy leaders and suitor of Jessica. The Grand Banshee descends and as punishment makes Barney disappear. Vowing revenge, King Boric rallies his troops for war. Due to the impending battle, the weather begins to violently change. As the battle rages, a single black crow (the disguised Grand Banshee) flies ominously above. The weather continues to worsen, killing crops and changing the landscape. Mickey and Jessica travel to Jack's cottage for advice on how to stop the war, which they feel responsible for. He advises them to meet with the Grand Banshee herself. Unfortunately, the Grand Banshee explains she is powerless but warns that if the two sides don't end their battle, there will be "no more Ireland...o
