In The Lucy Show season 1 episode 15, titled "Viv Visits Lucy," Lucille "Lucy" Carmichael receives a surprise visit from her friend Vivian Bagley. Vivian, known as "Viv" to her friends, is played by Doris Singleton, who also appeared as Carolyn Appleby in several episodes of I Love Lucy.
Lucy is thrilled to see Viv after not having seen her for years. Viv arrives with her husband, who Lucy quickly realizes is not the same man she knew Viv was married to. Viv explains that her husband passed away and she remarried, and Lucy is shocked to learn that Viv's new husband is none other than her former boss, Mr. Mooney.
Lucy is equally shocked when she learns that Viv and Mr. Mooney are planning to retire and move to Florida. She realizes that if they leave, she will lose her job as Mr. Mooney's secretary.
Determined to keep her job, Lucy hatches a plan to convince Viv and Mr. Mooney to stay in California. She enlists the help of her neighbor, Harry, to pose as a wealthy businessman interested in investing in Mr. Mooney's bank. Harry, played by Dick Martin, goes along with Lucy's plan, and together they try to convince Viv and Mr. Mooney to reconsider their retirement plans.
As always, Lucy's plan doesn't go quite as she hoped. There are misunderstandings and mishaps along the way, including a hilarious scene at a fancy restaurant where Lucy and Harry try to impress Viv and Mr. Mooney with their knowledge of high society.
In the end, Lucy and Harry's plan backfires, and Viv and Mr. Mooney stick to their retirement plans. However, Lucy's job is saved when Mr. Mooney promotes her to a higher position in the bank.
"Viv Visits Lucy" is a classic episode of The Lucy Show that showcases Lucille Ball's comedic talents. Doris Singleton's guest appearance adds an extra layer of fun, as viewers get to see Lucy interact with her former I Love Lucy co-star in a new role. The episode also highlights the show's themes of friendship and loyalty, as Lucy goes to great lengths to keep her job and keep her friends close.
