His Girls Friday/A Wife for Wilfred/The Girl Who Stood Still is the 20th episode of the 5th season of the popular American TV show, The Love Boat. This episode follows the usual format of the show, presenting three different storylines that revolve around the guests and crew of the Pacific Princess cruise ship.
In the first storyline, titled "His Girls Friday," we meet a wealthy and successful businessman named Arthur Cushing (played by Steve Allen) who is accompanied by his three beautiful, young secretaries. While cruising on the Pacific Princess, Arthur begins to realize that he has an unhealthy relationship with his secretaries and that his obsession with them has caused him to neglect his personal and professional life. As he tries to come to terms with his behavior, he also struggles with the fact that his secretaries have their own lives and ambitions, which may not align with his own.
The second storyline, "A Wife for Wilfred," focuses on a middle-aged, single man named Wilfred Whipple (played by Pat Harrington Jr.) who is desperate to find a wife. Wilfred is a bit of an oddball and has trouble connecting with women, but he meets someone he thinks could be his perfect match while on the cruise. The only problem is that the woman in question, played by guest star Cindy Williams, is not interested in a romantic relationship and instead wants to focus on her career.
Finally, in "The Girl Who Stood Still," we meet a young woman named Amy Phillips (played by Rebecca Holden) who has spent her entire life as a professional dancer. As she faces the prospect of retirement due to a leg injury, Amy struggles with her identity and her sense of purpose. She meets a young man on the cruise who tries to help her find a new path, but she is reluctant to let go of her lifelong dream of dance.
Throughout the episode, the various characters navigate their personal struggles with the help of the ship's crew, including Captain Stubing (played by Gavin MacLeod), Dr. Bricker (played by Bernie Kopell), and Cruise Director Julie McCoy (played by Lauren Tewes). The Love Boat offers its usual mix of drama, romance, and comedy, all set against the stunning backdrop of a luxury cruise ship.
