Take a Letter, Vicki; The Floating Bridge Game; The Joy of Celibacy is the fourteenth episode of the fifth season of The Love Boat. In this episode, the passengers of the Pacific Princess find themselves in a variety of romantic and comedic situations.
In the first storyline, Captain Stubing (played by Gavin MacLeod) and his daughter Vicki (played by Jill Whelan) clash when she decides to take over his role as the ship's executive officer for a day. As she struggles to keep up with the demands of the job, she inadvertently sends out a series of embarrassing love letters to the wrong people.
Meanwhile, Julie (played by Lauren Tewes) falls for a handsome bridge expert named Phil (played by John James), who is competing in the ship's floating bridge tournament. Though Julie is initially intimidated by his skill, they soon find common ground and begin to develop feelings for each other - and even team up to win the tournament.
Finally, a group of celibate monks (played by Mike Connors, James Sloyan, and Werner Klemperer) board the ship to spread their message of celibacy. As they interact with the passengers and crew, they begin to question their own beliefs and struggle to resist the temptations of the flesh.
