The Love Boat was a popular TV show in the 1970s and 80s that followed the adventures and romances of passengers and crew aboard the cruise ship Pacific Princess. Season 1, episode 18 features three different storylines that all revolve around the ship's crew and the passengers they encounter.
The first storyline, "The Last of the Stubings," follows the cruise director Julie McCoy (Lauren Tewes) as she tries to track down the last surviving member of the Stubing family, who is also a wealthy passenger on the cruise. Julie is eager to meet her long-lost relative and hopes to curry favor with him in order to secure a promotion. However, her plans are complicated when she realizes that the man she has been searching for is not quite what she expected.
In "The Million Dollar Man," the ship's doctor, Adam Bricker (Bernie Kopell), finds himself treating a wealthy passenger named Mr. Thompson (played by veteran character actor Lorne Greene). Thompson is a tycoon with a reputation for being ruthless in business, but Adam discovers that beneath the money and power, Thompson is a lonely man looking for love and companionship. As the doctor tries to help him find happiness, he also learns a few things about his own life along the way.
The final storyline, "The Sisters," centers around two siblings, one of whom is a nun. Sister Agatha (played by veteran actress Stella Stevens) is traveling with her sister, Liz (played by veteran TV actress Carolyn Jones), who is trying to convince her to leave the convent. Liz is worried about her sister's health and wants her to experience more of the world before it's too late. However, Sister Agatha is torn between her love for her sister and her dedication to her faith.
All three of these storylines come together in typical Love Boat fashion, with the crew members and passengers learning valuable lessons about life and love over the course of the cruise. The Last of the Stubings/The Million Dollar Man/The Sisters is a heartwarming episode that showcases the show's blend of drama, romance, and comedy.
