Meanwhile, Lola and Lana are embroiled in a fierce sibling rivalry. When they attend a retirement home's "Grandparent's Day" event, they start bickering over who would be the better caregiver for mom and dad when they're older. Ultimately, the two sisters end up going to ridiculous lengths to prove their worth, including attempting to carry their parents up the stairs.
As the holiday season progresses, the Louds are enjoying all the typical Christmas festivities, from building gingerbread houses to watching Christmas movies. However, Lincoln remains deeply stressed about finding the perfect present for his sister. In a dramatic turn of events, Lincoln finds himself trapped in the mall after hours, desperately searching for a gift. With no one left to turn to, he finally realizes that he's been stressing over the wrong thing all along.
Similarly, Lola and Lana come to a realization about their argument, realizing that it's not about who would be the best caregiver, but rather about how much they both love their parents. In the end, they both agree to take care of their parents together.
