Daffy Duck has always been known for his laziness, but in this episode, he decides to finally get a job. He teams up with Porky Pig and they apply for jobs at Speedy Cafe. However, Daffy's job search takes a turn for the worse when he realizes that he is not very good at any of the jobs he has been offered. He tries his hand at working as a busboy, a cashier, and even a chef, but he fails miserably at each job.
Porky is more successful than Daffy, landing a job as a waiter. He quickly becomes popular with the customers, much to Daffy's jealousy. Daffy decides that he wants to be a waiter too, but the manager of the cafe tells him that he is not cut out for the job. Daffy is determined to prove the manager wrong and begins to study the art of being a good waiter. He watches Porky and even takes notes while he is working.
Meanwhile, Bugs Bunny is having his own problems. He has been trying to get a date with Lola Bunny for weeks, but she is constantly busy with her career as a life coach. Bugs decides that he needs to start his own business in order to impress her. He starts a pet grooming business, but soon realizes that he is not very good at it. He accidentally shaves off all the fur of a dog, leaving it completely bald. Bugs tries to fix the situation by gluing fur onto the dog, but it only makes things worse.
Back at the cafe, Daffy's hard work is finally paying off. He impresses the manager with his new found skills as a waiter, and is offered a job. However, when Porky sees all the attention that Daffy is getting, he becomes jealous and decides to sabotage Daffy's chances of success. He starts telling the manager that Daffy is stealing from the cafe and causing trouble. Daffy is fired from his job, and Porky is promoted to head waiter.
Bugs is trying to fix the mess he made with the dog, but it runs away and causes chaos around town. Bugs finally catches the dog and returns it to its owner, but not before causing more destruction. Lola comes to see Bugs and is disappointed with the state of his pet grooming business. However, she is impressed with the effort he put in, and agrees to go on a date with him.
In the end, Daffy and Porky make up, and Daffy realizes that he can't always be the center of attention. Bugs learns that it's important to do something you love, even if you're not the best at it. The episode ends with Daffy and Porky working together at the cafe, and Bugs starting a new business as a life coach with Lola's help.
