The Lone Ranger season 1 episode 17, titled The Man Who Came Back, begins with a stranger, Tom Dean, arriving in the town of Desert Springs. Tom is looking for his brother who was last seen in the town three years ago. He believes that his brother was forced to join a gang of outlaws and is now being held prisoner.
The Lone Ranger and Tonto, who are passing through town, take an interest in Tom's story and offer to help. They soon discover that the town is being terrorized by the very gang that Tom believes his brother is a part of.
As they investigate, The Lone Ranger and Tonto come across a group of outlaws who are stealing cattle from local ranches. They follow the outlaws to their hideout and discover that Tom's brother is indeed among them. But they also learn that his brother is not being held captive; he is one of the outlaws by choice.
The Lone Ranger and Tonto confront Tom's brother and try to convince him to leave the gang and return to his family. However, the rest of the outlaws are not pleased with this and a shootout ensues. The Lone Ranger and Tonto are able to apprehend the outlaws and bring them to justice.
In the end, Tom's brother chooses to turn himself in and face the consequences of his actions. The Lone Ranger and Tonto bid farewell to the town of Desert Springs, having once again brought justice to the Wild West.
The Man Who Came Back is a classic Western tale that explores themes of family loyalty, personal choice, and the battle between good and evil. The Lone Ranger and Tonto's unwavering commitment to justice and their willingness to help those in need make them heroes in the eyes of the citizens of Desert Springs.
