Ep 16. The Buntline Special

Wyatt Earp has his work cut out for him in season 1 episode 16 of The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, titled "The Buntline Special." When famed gunfighter and writer Ned Buntline (played by John Dehner) arrives in town, Wyatt is asked to take care of him and his priceless gun, the Buntline Special. However, the gun becomes more trouble than it's worth.

Ned is in town to give a lecture on his adventures and to show off his custom-made gun, which has a barrel over a foot long. He even plans on giving it to Wyatt as a gift. But trouble starts when a young gunfighter named Billy the Kid (played by Robert Conrad) claims the gun is rightfully his, having won it in a card game. Wyatt decides to investigate and find the truth, but it seems like everyone he talks to has a different story.

The tension between the young Billy and Wyatt begins to boil over and a showdown seems inevitable. Meanwhile, a notorious outlaw named Dave Rudabaugh (played by Lee Van Cleef) is in town and causing trouble as well. Wyatt has his hands full trying to keep the peace and make sure everyone stays safe.

As the episode progresses, Wyatt must navigate through a web of lies and deceit to uncover the truth about the Buntline Special. He also tries to reconcile with his old friend Doc Holliday (played by Douglas Fowley) who has been holding a grudge against Wyatt for a long time.
