In the Law of Ueki season 1 episode 22 entitled "Law of Inumaru," we find Ueki and his team advancing to the third round of the tournament, facing off against a team led by Inumaru, a young boy and one of the seven Heavenly Beings. Inumaru wields the ability to change his shape and form, making him a formidable opponent.
The episode begins with Inumaru making his entrance, accompanied by his team. The crowd is in awe of his power and Ueki's team feels the pressure to win. Inumaru seems aloof and indifferent, not displaying any emotion during the match. The match starts with Inumaru's teammate, Daikoku, challenging Ueki's teammate, Seiichiro. Daikoku possesses the power to make anything he touches into money, making him a tough opponent to beat. Seiichiro counters Daikoku's power with his own power of making his voice louder and stronger than anyone else's, but Daikoku's power eventually wears him down and he loses.
Next up is Kobasen, one of Inumaru's teammates, facing off against Rinko, Ueki's teammate who possesses the power of shooting nails out of her hands. Kobasen's power is the ability to copy anyone's power if he hears the name of it. The match begins and Rinko tries to take down Kobasen with her nail gun, but he quickly learns her power and copies it, leaving Rinko helpless. Rinko's defeat leaves Ueki's team with only two members left.
The next match is Ueki versus Inumaru. Ueki's team knows that this will be a tough one, considering Inumaru's status as one of the seven Heavenly Beings. The match begins and Inumaru takes on the shape of a wild dog, but Ueki is unfazed. Ueki's power is the ability to turn trash into trees, making him one of the toughest opponents to beat. The two engage in a fierce battle with Ueki using his trees to gain the upper hand and Inumaru using his shape-shifting powers to dodge.
Inumaru eventually reveals his true motive for participating in the tournament. He doesn't care about winning the tournament, but rather he wants to find someone strong enough to defeat him. He believes that he has lost his purpose in life and that death would be a release from his meaningless existence. Ueki is stunned by Inumaru's confession and realizes that defeating him would not solve his problems, but would only create more.
The episode wraps up with Inumaru leaving the tournament, feeling like he hasn't found what he was looking for. Ueki's team is declared the winner, but Ueki is left with a heavy heart, realizing that sometimes in order to achieve true victory, you have to think beyond the battle.
