The Last O.G. season 4 episode 4 "If You Can't Buy, Rent" follows the main character Tray, played by Tracy Morgan, as he struggles to come to terms with his newfound fame. Tray, a former convict who's recently been released from prison, has quickly become a social media sensation thanks to a viral video of him helping an elderly woman cross the street. While initially excited by the attention, Tray soon finds that being in the public eye has its downsides.
In this episode, Tray is confronted with the reality of his financial situation. He's never been good with money and his recent fame has only exacerbated his spending habits. When he's hit with a hefty tax bill, Tray is forced to face his financial responsibilities head-on. He quickly realizes that he can't afford to just buy his way out of his problems and must instead learn to live within his means.
To make matters worse, Tray also has to deal with the consequences of his actions from previous episodes. He's been helping to run a food truck with his cousin Bobby, played by returning cast member Allen Maldonado. However, their business has been struggling and they soon find themselves in debt to some unsavory characters. Tray must figure out a way to pay off his debts while also keeping his dreams of being a successful entrepreneur alive.
Meanwhile, Tray's love interest Shay, played by Tiffany Haddish, is dealing with problems of her own. She's just started a new job and is struggling to balance it with her responsibilities as a mother. When her son gets into some trouble at school, Shay is forced to take a hard look at her priorities and make some tough decisions.
Throughout the episode, we see Tray and Shay navigate their respective challenges while also trying to support each other. As always, The Last O.G. manages to balance humor and heart in a way that keeps viewers invested in the characters and their journey. "If You Can't Buy, Rent" is another strong entry in a consistently entertaining series.
