Carrie and Doug have different opinions on how to spend their upcoming vacation days. Carrie wants to travel to a spa in Pennsylvania to relax, while Doug and Deacon want to take a trip to Atlantic City to gamble. Carrie thinks gambling is a waste of money and tries to convince Doug to go to the spa with her instead. Doug agrees to go to the spa but secretly plans to sneak away to Atlantic City to gamble.
Meanwhile, Arthur is trying to win a new refrigerator by entering a contest at the supermarket. He enlists the help of Spence to increase his chances of winning. Spence reluctantly agrees but ends up getting obsessed with winning the refrigerator himself.
As Carrie and Doug enjoy their time at the spa, their supposed relaxation is interrupted by their disagreement over gambling and spending. Eventually, Doug confesses his desire to go to Atlantic City and gamble, causing a rift between the couple.
Back in Queens, Arthur and Spence's obsession with winning the refrigerator escalates into a full-blown feud as they compete to buy more groceries and increase their chances of winning.
In the end, Carrie and Doug find a compromise and decide to spend a day in Philadelphia before heading home. Arthur and Spence also come to an agreement and decide to split the cost of a new refrigerator. The episode ends with the group back in Queens, happy and content with their separate but equal vacation experiences.
