Doug and Carrie are in their bedroom getting ready for bed when they hear a commotion outside. They look out their window and see their neighbor, Lou Ferrigno (played by himself), arguing with his wife. Lou storms off and Doug offers to help his wife with her groceries. While helping her, Doug reveals that he used to be a boxer in college and offers to train Lou for an upcoming charity boxing match.
Meanwhile, Arthur convinces Spence to give him a job as a doorman at his building so he can meet women. He quickly becomes popular with the single ladies of the building, including Holly (played by Nicole Sullivan), Spence's ex-girlfriend. However, he soon finds himself in over his head when he agrees to spend the night with Holly while Spence is out of town.
Back at home, Carrie is jealous of the time Doug is spending with Lou and his wife and feels left out. She tries to get involved by attending Lou's training sessions, but her lack of boxing knowledge and skill makes her feel inadequate. When Doug suggests she dress provocatively to distract Lou's opponent during the fight, she becomes even more insecure.
The day of the fight arrives and tensions are high. Doug is nervous about Lou's ability to take a punch and Carrie is worried about her role in the event. Arthur is also feeling the pressure as Holly becomes more demanding and clingy.
The boxing match is intense and Doug's training pays off as Lou dominates his opponent. However, during a break in the action, Lou collapses from exhaustion and is rushed to the hospital. Carrie blames herself for pushing Lou too hard and Doug feels guilty for putting his friend in harm's way.
After Lou is released from the hospital, he and his wife express their gratitude to Doug and Carrie for their support. Arthur also admits to Spence what happened with Holly and apologizes for betraying his trust. In the end, Doug and Carrie learn the importance of supporting each other and their friends, even in the face of adversity.
