Arthur, Carrie's father, has acquired a dreamy singing voice that they all enjoy. Her father's voice has boomed the walls of the church, and has even put up a small band to go along with his success. Soon his status as the leader of the gospel group causes conflict among the members, however. As they begin to argue, their patience runs thin as artistic differences take over and everyone wants to be in charge. On the other hand, the couple's life and issues continue even as Arthur's success grows. Carrie, on the other hand, struggles with her feelings of being overwhelmed and bored with life, and tries her best to improve her life by attending classes and learning new things. However, the decision to quit her dog-walking job is looking like a blunder, as the extra time she has created more work for her to do around the house. At work, Doug's (her husband) co-worker brings their new baby to the office, and Doug becomes unwillingly drawn into the circle of parents. Carrie discovers his absence when he goes and, along the line realizes that there must be a good reason for his newfound interest in children. Whether the new chapter in their lives has brought them happiness or misery is unknown, but the progression of the season leads to the assumption that they may be able to navigate it successfully.
