In The King of Queens season 8 episode 1, titled "Pole Lox," Doug and Carrie are excited to attend a management seminar in the Poconos. Doug sees it as an opportunity to impress his boss and possibly get a promotion, while Carrie sees it as a chance to unwind and relax. However, things quickly go awry when they arrive at the seminar and discover that it's actually a couples' retreat.
At first, Doug and Carrie try to make the best of it, but they soon realize that they're the only couple who didn't bring lingerie for the "clothing-optional" night. They try to sneak away from the retreat to go shopping, but they end up getting lost and stranded in the woods. Meanwhile, Arthur is left in charge of the house and has to deal with a problematic satellite dish installation.
As Doug and Carrie struggle to find their way back, they start to bicker and argue about their relationship. Along the way, they encounter some quirky characters, including a man who lives in a tree and a group of nudist hikers. Eventually, they manage to make it back to the retreat and attend the "clothing-optional" night, where they have a surprising encounter.
"Pole Lox" is a hilarious and heartwarming episode that showcases the chemistry between Doug and Carrie. It also deals with some relatable themes, such as the importance of communication and the challenges of sustaining a long-term relationship. Overall, it's a great start to the eighth season of The King of Queens.
